PROJECT
FitForLife
Project:FitForLife
FitForLife is our over 55’s project for local people looking to get more active!
Focussed around older adults at risk of social isolation and loneliness, this project has fantastic impacts on it’s participants, including improved mood and confidence to exercise, increasing purpose and social network.
We initially offer a fully funded 12 week programming which is led by 2 qualified coaches, teaching mobility, strength and conditioning through functional fitness which replicate everyday movement patterns. These movement patterns could be walking with kettlebells replicating carrying shopping bags, box step-ups helping to strengthen stair climbing, or pushing a weighted sled, replicating mowing the lawn or pushing a shopping trolley.
Following completion of the 12-week course, we aim that participants will feel more confident to engage in their preferred forms of exercise. As an alternative to this, we also offer a timetable of almost daily follow-on classes that attendees are welcome attend on a donation basis.
“It’s important to me to be active alongside my grandchildren. I don’t want to be just a spectator to what they are doing. Fit for Life has made this easier and will help me carry on into the future”
– James, FitForLife attendee

The Free 12 Week Programme
Are you over 55 and looking for a kick-start to improve your health, fitness and confidence with exercise? Momentum in Fitness Charity is launching a new FREE 12-week programme for older adults in our local area which aims to support participants to become more active to improve their health and wellbeing – whilst also having the opportunity to connect with other like-minded people.
Across the 12 weeks, participants will attend one exercise session per week on a Wednesday at 9am, led by two qualified and experienced fitness coaches.Participants will be encouraged to work to their own abilities, utilising equipment such as barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells and resistance bands. We will track each attendees’ progress throughout the programme to measure improvements in areas such as strength, mobility, confidence with exercise and more. We aim to create a supportive and safe environment for everyone and therefore also encourage those who attend to build connections with others after the session with a hot drink or two from the in-house coffee bar!
This programme is aimed at older adults who may have little or no gym experience, and/or those who may be lacking confidence or motivation to become more active. It is a Charity run programme and is therefore free for all eligible participants.
As part of this programme, we will encourage participants to track and log their progress on a weekly basis and will periodically ask participants to answer some key questions to help us measure overall progress and impact of this new programme. This can include body composition analysis (which measures muscle mass, body fat percentage, hydration levels and more) – however this is not compulsory.

Cohort 7 – April 1st -17th June 2026 (Complete)
