“I overheard how passionately Charles spoke about Momentum Fitness Charity and the help they provided kids with social, mental, and emotional health needs. I thought about my son and how I wish something like this had been around for him.” – Dorian Lawrence, Momentum Fitness Charity Ambassador.

When that first conversation with Dorian happened in 2021, none of us could have guessed what it would lead to. But everything we’ve achieved together since has been incredible.

“I remember speaking to Dorian when we were working on launching the charity with the Charity Commision. Once we became registered and our projects started becoming established, Dorian’s link to our work and his obvious passion for the projects were amazing.

With his business acumen and huge network of connections the role of Ambassador could not be more ideal for him. Dorian has already helped the charity secure almost £20,000 of funding through his own donations and contacts.” Charles, Momentum Fitness Charity CEO

Once Dorian saw the coaches delivering sessions to the over-55s as part of our Fit for Life campaign, he noticed the changes happening right in front of him.

He didn’t just see the obvious physical and fitness-related improvements. He saw recently retired grandmothers finally meeting new people after putting it off for years. He saw dads rediscovering fitness for the first time in decades. He saw older couples dealing with the nerves of joining a new gym and getting through it together.

And when he learned more about the support we provide to children during or after cancer treatment through our PB:Active programme, he understood just how many people we were reaching.

From that point on, he was all in.

“I noticed the difference it made to the kids coming to the gym and how they were improving. I couldn’t believe it when five doctors came to the Fit for Life sessions and started prescribing them instead of medication.” – Dorian

From those early days, Dorian’s enthusiasm has been obvious. He used his network to build interest, secure funding, and has carried the heart of what we do into every conversation. His energy and authenticity made him the perfect choice as our ambassador.

The nature of the help we provide to children resonated with Dorian on a personal level too. He spoke openly with us about challenges his own family has faced. Those details remain his alone to share, but his connection to our mission was unmistakable.

“As a parent the desire to help your child is massive. Even a smiley face at the gym and exposure to another adult who is fit and healthy can be huge. I wanted to help parents in a similar situation.” – Dorian

To this day, Dorian brings that same commitment. He stays connected with his network, encourages ongoing donations, sparks fundraising efforts, and points families and individuals toward whichever part of the charity can help them. He’s been a steady, consistent presence behind the scenes.

Each introduction he makes, every conversation he starts, and every bit of outreach he drives pushes us closer to the future we’re all working towards – one where Momentum Fitness Charity is not only still here in ten years but thriving.

When we sat down with him recently, we asked what he was most proud of.

“I’m proudest of Charles and Amy’s idea to get it off the ground and their attitude towards helping. The gains we’re making for children with special needs and helping kids back to normality after treatment. The impact we have on both the children and their parents really is breathtaking.” – Dorian

We’re so grateful that Dorian was in the right place at the right time all those years ago and overheard the plans we made at the very start of our journey here at Momentum Fitness Charity.
The incredible work and all the people we’ve managed to help wouldn’t have been possible without him.
