MOMENTUM FITNESS CHARITY
Providing safe and supportive 1-2-1 rehabilitation and group fitness sessions, making fitness more accessible for local people who need it most.
A LITTLE ABOUT US
Who we are
Momentum Fitness Charity provides and facilitates accessible fitness sessions for local people across Hampshire.
We aim to break down and overcome the barriers which prevent some individuals and groups in our community from being physically active. Our work supports everyone to experience the wide range of benefits from participating in exercise.
Why we exist
Everyone should be able, and have equal access to experience the benefits of participating in physical activity and exercise. However, we know that in reality there are many vast and complex barriers to entry for people within our community. Whether these barriers are real or perceived, we want to break down and remove these barriers as much as we can to provide everyone the opportunity to take part in, and experience the benefits of physical activity.

How we do what we do

What we do
As a developing charity, we want to ensure we are as impactful and effective as possible to drive long term growth and be in a position to support a broad and far-reaching demographic.
We run sessions for teens with SEMH needs, and older adults at risk of loneliness and social isolation, to become more active and confident with exercise.
We’ve also developed a pioneering exercise therapy service for children with and recovering from cancer across the South Coast of England. Our exercise therapy service is delivered at the Piam Brown ward at Southampton General Hospital, outside the clinical environment at out gym location in Eastleigh, and more recently at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth. We have ambitious plans to continue to grow this project and its reach.

How we're funded
The funding landscape for charities is incredibly tough, and we’re less able to rely on grant funding to keep us going and to keep our core offering free to those who need it. We’re more reliant than ever on the generosity of our supporters. From choosing us as your charity of the year at work, to running an event in support of us, we really do appreciate your one off or regular support of us.
Facilitating the Sessions
We adapt our approach to best suit the needs of the individual or groups we work with – as much as possible we will run sessions with our team of experienced coaches and exercise therapists.
Our team are well versed in delivering fitness sessions and interventions, with many years of experience working with people from 5 to 75. We know how to ensure that those who engage with us [our beneficiaries] get the most out of their sessions.
Whether we’re facilitating an exercise therapy session 1-2-1 with a child under 10in a hospital setting, or getting a group of inactive over 70s moving, helping prevent trips and falls and providing that much needed community support and social element, we always run an impactful session.

Reporting the Impact
Having comprehensive data on our impact is essential for us to grow and facilitate more. We measure fitness and wellbeing impacts of every attendee at the start of each session block, periodically throughout and at the end of the block to show the difference we’ve made and to show our impact.
